What this tool does
Discounts rarely come one at a time. An extra percentage off at the till comes off what is left after the first reduction, not off the list price, which is why 20% and then 10% is 28% off rather than 30%. This tool applies them in that order, adds tax last if you need it, and shows the effective discount so you can compare two offers honestly.
How to use it

- Read the final price, the amount saved and the effective discount.

Frequently asked questions
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No. The figures are calculated by JavaScript in the page and are never uploaded or stored.
- How do two discounts stack?
- The second comes off the reduced price, the way a shop applies it. 20% off 100 leaves 80, and a further 10% off leaves 72 — an effective 28%, not 30%.
- Why is there no currency symbol?
- The tool works with plain numbers so it fits any currency. Results are formatted with your own language's thousands and decimal separators.
