What this tool does
The countdown works out how much time is left from your device's own clock, so it stays accurate even if the tab is in the background. When it reaches zero, it plays a short beep using your browser's audio and shows an on-screen alert — no notification permission or account is needed.
How to use it
- Enter hours, minutes and seconds, or choose a preset.
- Press Start to begin the countdown.
- Press Pause to stop early, then Resume to continue from the same time left.
- Press Reset to clear the countdown and set a new duration.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded, stored or shared — closing the tab removes it.
Frequently asked questions
- Will I hear the alert if the tab is in the background?
- Yes, as long as the browser tab is still open. The alert is a short sound generated by the Web Audio API and played through your device's normal audio output.
- Can I change the duration while it is running?
- No. Press Reset first to unlock the hours, minutes and seconds fields, then set a new duration and press Start.
- Does this need permission for notifications?
- No. The alert is only a sound and an on-screen message inside the page itself, so no browser notification permission is requested.
