What this tool does

This only removes protection you can already open the file with: you provide the same user or owner password the PDF was protected with, the tool verifies it locally and rewrites the file without its encryption dictionary. It supports the AES-256 and RC4 standard security handlers built into the PDF format; a PDF using a different or custom protection scheme is refused rather than guessed at. Only unlock a PDF you own or otherwise have permission to remove protection from.
