Sentiment Analyzer
Score text as positive, neutral or negative, locally
Score a piece of text as positive, neutral or negative using a local, multilingual word-list algorithm that accounts for nearby negation and intensity words. See exactly which words drove the result.
This tool matches words from a fixed multilingual list and adjusts for nearby negation and intensity words. It does not understand context, so sarcasm, idioms and mixed or backhanded statements can score incorrectly. Treat the result as a rough signal, not a verdict.

What this tool does
This tool scans your text against a built-in list of positive and negative words across several languages, adjusting each match for a nearby negator (such as "not" or "never") or an intensity word (such as "very" or "slightly") before adding up an overall score. Every matched word is listed alongside the result so you can see exactly what the score is based on. It is a rule-based tool, not a language model, and works best on short, plainly worded text.
How to use it

Frequently asked questions
- Does this understand sarcasm or context?
- No. It matches words from a fixed list and adjusts for nearby negation and intensity words, but it has no understanding of tone, context or sarcasm, so a sarcastic or backhanded statement can score incorrectly.
- Which languages does it cover?
- It includes word lists for the languages this site is translated into, and looks for matches from all of them at once, so mixed-language text can still score.
- Is my text uploaded to analyze it?
- No. Matching and scoring both happen entirely in your browser.
