What this tool does
A grade point average weights each course's grade by how many credit hours it's worth, so a high grade in a large course moves the average more than the same grade in a small one. This tool uses the common US unweighted 4.0 scale, where an A is worth 4.0 points and an F is worth 0, with plus and minus grades in between. Add a row per course, pick its letter grade and enter its credit hours, and the overall GPA and total credits update as you type.
How to use it
- Set the letter grade and credit hours for each course.
- Add or remove course rows as needed.
- Read the overall GPA and total credits.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded, stored or shared — closing the tab removes it.
Frequently asked questions
- Which grading scale does this use?
- The standard unweighted US 4.0 scale, where A/A+ = 4.0, A- = 3.7, down to F = 0.0. It does not add extra points for honors or AP courses.
- Can I use this for an official transcript GPA?
- Treat it as a quick estimate. Schools sometimes weight honors courses differently or exclude certain classes, so always check your institution's own calculation for anything official.
- Is my grade data sent anywhere?
- No. The GPA is calculated locally in your browser.
