Ratio Simplifier
Reduce a ratio to its lowest whole-number terms
Enter 2 or 3 whole numbers to reduce them to the simplest ratio with the same proportions.
Every term is divided by the greatest common divisor of all of them, so the ratio keeps the same proportions in its smallest whole-number form.

What this tool does
A ratio is simplified by dividing every term by the greatest common divisor shared by all of them, the same way a fraction is reduced to lowest terms. The result keeps exactly the same proportions as the original numbers, just expressed with the smallest possible whole numbers.
How to use it
- Enter the first term of the ratio.
- Enter the second term.
- Optionally enter a third term for a 3-part ratio.
- Read the simplified ratio.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I simplify a 3-term ratio like 4:8:12?
- Yes, enter a value in the optional third field and all three terms are reduced together by their shared greatest common divisor.
- Does this work with decimals?
- No, only positive whole numbers are accepted. To simplify a decimal ratio, multiply every term by the same power of 10 first to make them whole numbers.
- How is this different from the GCD and LCM calculator?
- The GCD and LCM calculator reports the greatest common divisor and least common multiple of two numbers; this tool uses the same idea to directly simplify a 2 or 3 term ratio.
