What this tool does
This slug generator converts one title or phrase into a URL slug containing only ASCII letters, digits and the separator you choose. It first applies Unicode NFKD normalization so accented Latin characters contribute their base letters, then splits on every run of characters that is not an ASCII letter or digit. Empty parts are discarded before joining, so the result has no leading, trailing or repeated separator. Choose hyphen, underscore or no separator, lowercase the slug or keep original capitalization, see the character length and copy the result. Punctuation, brackets, symbols, emoji and whitespace are dropped. The tool does not transliterate non-Latin scripts such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew or Devanagari; those characters are removed and can leave an empty slug. It also has no stop-word removal, max-length truncation, uniqueness check, collision suffix, batch mode, reverse mode, file upload or download. Your text stays in the browser.
How to use it
- Enter one post title, page name, product name or route phrase.
- Choose hyphen, underscore or no separator, then choose lowercase or keep case.
- Review the ASCII slug and length, then copy it into your CMS, URL or code.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded, stored or shared — closing the tab removes it.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my title or list sent to your servers?
- No. The title and generated slug stay in your browser, and no model, dictionary or remote service is fetched at run time.
- How does this tool handle accents and special characters?
- It uses Unicode NFKD normalization, keeps ASCII letters and digits, and drops punctuation, symbols and emoji. Accented letters may become word breaks, so señor becomes sen-or.
- Does a slug generator replace SEO keyword research?
- No. It formats a title into URL-safe text; it does not choose keywords, judge search volume or optimize page strategy.
- Can it transliterate Chinese, Japanese or Cyrillic?
- No. Non-Latin scripts are removed rather than romanized, which can produce an empty slug.
- Can it create unique slugs or process a batch?
- No. It handles one phrase at a time and does not check collisions, add numeric suffixes or process files.
